Mackley Construction has been awarded Category Winner (Water and Environment Project Category), Brassey Award for work on the River Medway.

The project was to construct 6 boat landing stages with canoe access along the River Medway. They were located upstream and downstream at Eldridges Lock, upstream and downstream at Porters Lock, downstream of Sluice Weir and downstream of Hampstead Lock. Piles were driven with an air hammer on a land based crane with the exception of Hampstead at which we used our pontoon mounted Copma Crane.

Previously a range of safety improvements had been implemented at the lock sites including the installation of Bolina booms, grab chains and footpaths.
